How to control the grain direction?

Does any of the following sound familiar?

  • Basic material sheets like solid wood or HPL with a particular decoration have a grain direction.
  • You want your parts to have a particular grain direction for aesthetic reasons (e.g. all front panels in a kitchen project must have the same grain direction).
  • However, you do not know how to ensure that all parts get that same grain direction at the moment they are cut from your basic material sheets.

OPTIMIZER PROFESSIONAL allows you to easily control the orientation of your parts within their cutting patterns.

  • For each basic material sheet the grain direction can be indicated.
  • Next in the parts list you can indicate how each part should be oriented within the basic material sheet, thus effectively controlling its grain direction.
  • After optimization the grain direction is visualized in the layout.
